Anthropic opened a waitlist on October 21, 2026 for Claude Duet, an app in which Claude acts as a proactive agent for professionals and small business owners, including buying business supplies. The research preview is available by waitlist, starting with Pro and Max subscribers in the United States, Anthropic said.

Claude Duet runs on Claude Opus 5.5 and carries over the memory, skills and connected apps from a user’s Claude account. It draws on more than 6,000 connectors and plug-ins from the Claude Marketplace. Anthropic says the app checks connected accounts every few hours and messages the user only when something needs attention, and that it has a virtual machine with its own browser so work continues when a laptop or phone is off. Users get a notification when a task is finished or needs review.

The company says Claude Duet waits for approval before sending a message, making a payment, signing a document or deleting anything. Anthropic describes the design as deciding “what needs you” and when to check with the user first.

Payments run through Link, Stripe’s digital wallet. Claude Duet confirms the item with the user, Link asks the user to approve the spend, and the payment is made with a virtual card so the real card number is not shared. The app can also check out at online stores that use Shopify’s Shop Pay. PYMNTS reported the launch.

Anthropic said the app is included in Pro and Max plans for the preview and uses the same usage limits as the rest of Claude.
